building knowledge, creating opportunities

The clean energy transition is unfolding at a rapid pace across regional Australia, with solar and wind farms, battery storage systems, and new electricity transmission projects reshaping the energy landscape.

First Nations people and communities are rights holders and critical partners in Australia's clean energy transition.

It’s essential that our people and communities are equipped to manage and explore emerging opportunities in First Nations-led clean energy development and partnerships, as well as understand the risks.

To ensure First Nations are empowered to engage, consent, negotiate and partner in new clean energy developments, the First Nations Clean Energy Network and the Clean Energy Council are hosting a series of ‘Powering Up’ clean energy workshops in Geraldton (Western Australia), Rockhampton (Queensland), and Bendigo (Victoria).

First Nations people from these regions are invited to attend the 2-day Powering Up workshop, which will focus on opportunities in Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and areas where significant clean energy development is proposed, providing vital information and pathways for First Nations. Together, we’ll unpack the basics of renewable energy, explore what participation and benefit-sharing  means for Country and community, and look at the economic opportunities and challenges that come with it.

This is about First Nations leadership in the clean energy future - standing strong to protect Country while helping to shape renewable energy projects that deliver benefits for our people.

Over two days, we’ll dive into the renewable energy landscape in your region, learn how to advocate for strong agreements, and explore the pathways to jobs, skills, and business opportunities in clean energy.
